Come, my non-English friends! Let us together climb up the English Himalayas

Anathema

```
(curses)
I do not understand
How a saintly man like you
Can heap anathema
Upon those who fail
To agree with you all the time.
```

Arid

```
(dry)
You want to know
Why nobody likes you.
Nobody likes you
Because nobody wants to be
Affected by your arid mind
And impure vital. ```
Assailed
```

(violently attacked)

It is quite natural

That you will be assailed

By doubt

If you do not aspire. ```

Benignant

```
(gracious)
It is the benignant qualities
Of our heart
That endear others
And, at the same time,
Make us divinely beautiful
And supremely lovable. ```
Bias
```

(preference)

Naturally you will be an object

Of ruthless ridicule

If you show a definite bias

Towards a particular individual. ```

Chastise

```
(punish)
You think that you can do
Anything you want to.
I may not be able to chastise you,
But God can chastise you
Easily,
And He definitely will. ```
Chide
```

(scold)

I chide my mind

When it steals

My heart's happiness.

```
Circumscribe
```

(limit)

I am the last person to ask you

To circumscribe your meditation-hours.

On the contrary,

I want you to meditate more,

But always cheerfully

And devotedly. ```

Concomitant

```
(that which accompanies)
Failure is always
A concomitant
Of doubt.
```

Condone

```
(forgive)
The very nature of
A purity-heart
Is to condone
An unruly mind. ```
Contentious
```

(quarrelsome)

The cheerless mind

And the fearless vital

Frequently enjoy

Loud and contentious noises. ```

Cowered

```
(cringed)
His frightened heart
Cowered in the darkness-room
Of his wild vital.
```

Demean

```
(humiliate)
I do not want to demean myself
By associating with
My doubtful mind.
```

Disgruntled

```
(discontented)
Remain always cheerful.
Do not be disgruntled
In your climbing
Heavenward journey. ```
Disparage
```

(belittle)

Do not disparage anybody,

For it does not

Become you.

```
Effrontery
```

(shameless boldness)

Because you have the effrontery

To disobey your Master,

I take you as a useless

Human being.

Everybody hates him

Because he has the effrontery

To mistreat singularly kind

And honest people. ```

Enthralled

```
(fascinated)
There shall come a time
When the impurity-mind
Will be enthralled
By the purity-heart. ```
Equanimity
```

(composure)

My heart's sleepless hunger

For equanimity

Has silenced my turbulent mind.

```
Exonerate
```

(acquit)

To tell the truth

Is to exonerate oneself

From the impure

Falsehood-crime. ```

Extricate

```
(disentangle)
If you really want to be
A genuine God-lover,
Then you must extricate yourself
From the imaginary temptation-life. ```
Fealty
```

(faithfulness)

No fealty,

No progress

In the inner life.

```
Fulminate
```

(thunder)

Because of its own

Ocean-vast stupidity,

The mind fulminates against

The God-fondness-innocence

Of the heart.

```
Gainsay
```

(deny)

O my mind,

Why do you gainsay the fact

That you have stolen

My heart's childlike joy? ```

Gnome

```
(fairytale dwarf)
How can you be
Other than a gnome
In the world of spirituality
If you do not pray and meditate
Regularly plus soulfully?
```

Harbinger

```
(pioneer, presager)
Only your soul,
The God-representative on earth,
Can be the harbinger of your mind's
Full illumination. ```
Hedonism
```

(theory that pleasure is the highest good)

Hedonism means

World-pleasure-life-enjoyment.

Asceticism means

Self-torture-life-enforcement. ```

Henchmen

```
(devoted followers)
Quite often henchmen
Do undivine things
Just to please their superiors
And keep their names free of crimes. ```
Iconoclast
```

(one who attacks cherished beliefs)

He thinks he is endowed

With an inner vision.

Therefore he dares

To be an iconoclast. ```

Indolent

```
(idle)
With his indolent aspiration-life
He wants to satisfy God.
Indeed, this is the height
Of his stupidity! ```
Ingrate
```

(ungrateful person)

To me, an ingrate

Is the worst possible failure

In humanity's upward journey.

```
Innuendoes
```

(hints)

Since I am not a fool,

I can easily see through

Your secret and clever

Innuendoes. ```

Insipid

```
(tasteless, dull)
If you do not have
An inspiration-mind
And an aspiration-heart,
Then you are bound to have
An insipid life.
O my mind,
I am sick of your
Constant, insipid doubt-talk.
```

Intrepid

```
(brave)
You have to be truly intrepid
In your spiritual life.
Otherwise, the doubt-monster
Will devour not only your mind
But also your entire being.
```

Magnate

```
(man of prominence)
No doubt you are a magnate,
But because you do not
Believe in God,
I have nothing to do with you. ```
Mendicant
```

(beggar)

Be a sincere mendicant-seeker.

All your longings

Are bound to be fulfilled.

```
Momentous
```

(very important)

This is, indeed,

A momentous occasion.

We must all be

Sincere and alert. ```

Nettle

```
(annoy)
O useless thoughts,
I beg of you not to come
And nettle my mind
When my mind desires to enjoy
The unparalleled beauty
Of tranquility. ```
Nonplussed
```

(baffled)

I was quite nonplussed

When I felt that even his heart

Had stopped praying and meditating

Regularly. ```

Obeisance

```
(homage)
I made my obeisance
Most devotedly
To your compassionate heart.
```

Onus

```
(responsibility)
To take care of others
Is not an onus
But a golden opportunity
To become a perfect citizen
Of the world.
```

Optimum

```
(best)
Every hour is supremely divine.
Therefore, you do not have to wait
For an optimum moment
To meditate on God. ```
Oscillation ...
```

(a swinging back and forth)

Either accept the truth

Or become the falsehood.

Your oscillation between the two

Is ridiculous. ```

Ostracise

```
(cast off connection with)
At long last
His pure heart is ready
To ostracise his wild vital.
```

Parlous

```
(difficult)
A suspicious mind
Is no less parlous
Than a naked sword.
```

Peregrination

```
(pilgrimage)
Be not afraid
Of the inner peregrination;
Your Inner Pilot will definitely
Inspire you, encourage you
And guide you.
```

Perforce

```
(of necessity)
I must perforce be happy
To become a nicer
World citizen.
```

Perspicacity

```
(ability to penetrate and correctly judge)
His amazing perspicacity
Solved all our serious problems. ```
Pinnacle
```

(highest place)

Only an unconditional self-giver

Will unmistakably reach

The pinnacle-height

Of God's Satisfaction-Delight. ```

Platonic

```
(spiritual, not sensual, relationship)
Does platonic love exist?
Yes, it does, and it will,
Forever.
```

Pragmatic

```
(practical)
If you think that the spiritual life
Can never be pragmatic,
Then you simply do not know
What a really spiritual life is. ```
Preponderance
```

(superiority in importance)

The preponderance of the human mind

Can never be accepted

By the aspiration

Of a God-lover. ```

Presage

```
(foretell)
I cannot presage
The perfection
Of anything.
```

Proximity

```
(nearness)
A doubtful mind
Vehemently avoids
The proximity of
A faithful heart. ```
Purblind
```

(short-sighted, stupid)

Because you are purblind,

You are unable to see

The soulful purity

In the true seeker-hearts. ```

Recherche

```
(rare)
God will definitely grant you
His recherché Blessings
If you unconditionally offer Him
Your aspiration-heart. ```
Repercussions
```

(after-effects)

The repercussions

Of your deliberate lies

Will be most hurtful.

```
Reproving
```

(rebuking)

By reproving the unaspiring seekers

You cannot augment

Their hearts’ aspiration-flames.

```
Retrograde
```

(degenerate)

If your heart has a soulful cry

To dive within every day

During your meditation,

Then you can never retrograde

In your spiritual life.

```
Roseate
```

(optimistic)

Only a genuine truth-seeker

Is entitled to dream

Of a roseate future.

```
Ruction
```

(serious quarrel)

Just a little altercation

Eventually ended

In a most deplorable ruction.

```
Saga
```

(heroic story)

I want to be as successful

As you are in life.

Will you tell me the saga

Of your life

To inspire me?

```
Sanctimonious
```

(pretending to be holy)

He was openly ridiculed

By his fellow seekers

For his sanctimonious behaviour.

```
Satraps
```

(viceroys)

Suspicion and its satraps —

Doubt and jealousy —

Are responsible for

The deplorable condition

Of the human mind.

```
Sleight Of Hand
```

(clever deception)

With the soulfulness of your heart,

And not with your sleight of hand,

You will be able to win

The heart of humanity. ```

Sobriquet

```
(nickname)
In spite of his being
A big celebrity.
I deeply enjoy calling him
By his sobriquet. ```
Sophomoric
```

(immature)

He is not an advanced seeker.

Therefore anything that he says

About spirituality

Is sophomoric. ```

Stalwart

```
(reliable)
If you are a stalwart seeker,
I do not see how you can ever fail
In your spiritual life.
```

Stilted

```
(stiff and pompous)
To increase the aspiration
Of a seeker's heart
Stilted utterances are of
No avail. ```
Sub rosa
```

(secretly)

I tell you sub rosa —

God will make you

Another God.

I have heard sub rosa

Of your present lack of faith

In your spiritual life.

I would very much love

To assist you

To regain your faith. ```

Subjugate

```
(conquer)
The fear of death
We must subjugate.
The aspiration-heart
Does not want to subjugate
The suspicion-mind;
It only wants to awaken the mind
From its dark ignorance-sleep.
```

Sunder

```
(separate)
Do you know what the mind knows?
It knows how to blunder;
It knows how to plunder;
It knows how to sunder;
It knows how to thunder.
A searching mind
And an aspiring heart
Must not be sundered.
They needs must sing
The oneness-song
To please God the Supreme Singer. ```
Supernal
```

(supreme)

No, not even an iota

Of the supernal peace and joy

For a sceptical mind!

```
Tenebrous
```

(gloomy)

Aspire regularly, aspire devotedly.

If not, you will be forced to remain

Inside the tenebrous abyss of your vital.

```
Thaumaturgist
```

(miracle-worker)

The Supreme Thaumaturgist

Has the incredible capacity

To transform Heaven's

Indifference-mind-frown

Into its concern-heart-smile.

```
Timorous
```

(fearful)

No timorous heart

Can ever succeed

Either in the world

Of aspiration-purity

Or in the world

Of dedication-beauty. ```

Troglodyte

```
(cave-dweller)
To be a sleepless
Truth-seeker and God-lover
And not a mere troglodyte
Is the divine purpose
Of my life.
```

Tyro

```
(beginner)
In spite of being a tyro
In weightlifting,
He has surprised
The weightlifting world
By lifting up exceptionally
Heavy weights. ```
Ultimatum
```

(last demand)

O my doubting mind,

My final ultimatum:

Either surrender to my faith-life

Or I shall leave you for good. ```

Uncouth

```
(lacking in good manners)
Although he appears
To be uncouth,
He has a heart
Vaster than the vastest. ```
Unfeigned
```

(genuine)

Your love of God

And surrender to God

Must be unfeigned

At every moment.

I am glad to notice that,

Like me,

You, too, have an unfeigned love

For nature's beauty. ```

Untoward

```
(regrettable)
Alas,
Untoward circumstances prevent me
From praying in the morning
And from meditating in the evening. ```
Valedictory
```

(farewell)

In his valedictory address to earth

He said, "Mother-Earth,

My soul is carrying me

To its celestial abode,

But I am leaving behind with you

My soulful gratitude-heart."

My soul's valedictory message:

"Smile to Heaven was too short."

My heart's valedictory message:

"Cry to earth will be too long." ```

Valetudinarian

```
(person in poor health)
True, I am a valetudinarian,
But that does not mean
That I shall not be able to invoke
God's Compassion-Eye to cure me,
My ignorance-illness.
```

Venerable

```
(worthy of respect)
He is venerable
Both for his wisdom-light
And for his sacrifice-heart.
```

Vicarious

```
(to feel as one's own experience)
My dear friend,
I experience a vicarious joy
In your tennis success-glory.
```

Villify

```
(slander)
A oneness-heart will never villify
Others' name and fame
And mountain-achievements.
```

Volition

```
(choice)
My present
Self-surrender-light
Is of my own volition.
```

Vying

```
(contending)
I am not vying
With any God-seeker
For God's
Extra Compassion-Light. ```
Wane
```

(fade)

Have a purity-breath.

If not, your aspiration-heart

Will wane.

```
Wary
```

(cautious)

Be wary!

Your doubting mind

Can blight your loving faith.

```
Welkin
```

(sky)

I am dauntlessly determined

To make my inner welkin ring

With my heart's sleepless

Aspiration-cry.

Live in your heart-welkin

To be ever happy. ```

Welter

```
(wallow)
How long will you welter
In ignorance-mire?
Although his mind welters
In the pleasures of ignorance-life,
His aspiration-heart has made
Its unconditional surrender
To God's Will.
```

Whit

```
(smallest fragment)
You do not have
A whit of love.
How can God cherish you?
```

Winsome

```
(agreeable)
Because you are winsome,
The world within
And the world without
Are all for you
```

.

Wizen

```
(wither)
Doubt-heat wizens
Devotion-plants. ```
Wont
```

(regular habit)

As is my wont,

I sing God-songs

Every morning and every evening.

```
Wreak
```

(inflict)

I am a purity-heart.

Wreak not your wild anger

On me.

```
Xenophile
```

(one who is fond of the foreign life)

I love all climes

As my very own;

I am more than

A xenophile. ```

Zenith

```
(highest point)
When my heart-sun
Is at its zenith,
My Lord tells me
I am another God. ```
Zephyr
```

(gentle breeze)

Zephyrs are blowing.

My heart is all inspiration.

My boat is reaching

The Golden Shore. ```
