Part I — Questions about God¹

Joyce: If there is a Heaven, what is the population?

Sri Chinmoy: My child, I, too, am so curious, but nobody has dared to count them. If you count them and tell me the exact number, I will be so proud of you.

Jinita: Does God have parents?

Sri Chinmoy: Like us, God, too, has parents. God's Father's name is Transcendental Height; God's Mother's name is Universal Delight.

Diana: What country was God born in?

Sri Chinmoy: God was born in Eternity-Infinity's Oneness-Home.

Michael: Can God hear us all at one time?

Sri Chinmoy: God can hear us all at one time if He wants to. But sometimes He does not want to hear from some people, who lie at every moment.

Vladislav: Is God our Father?

Sri Chinmoy: God is our Father if we love our father more than we love our mother. God is our Mother if we love our mother more than we love our father. But if we love our father and mother equally, then God is both our Father and Mother.

Michael: How did God make the sun?

Sri Chinmoy: God made the sun by taking out a tinier-than-the-tiniest portion of Light from His larger-than-the-largest Eye.

Alex: How does God's Voice sound?

Sri Chinmoy: It depends on the person who hears it. If the person is good, then God's Voice sounds extremely sweet, but if the person is bad, then His Voice sounds horrible.

Donnell: When does God cry?

Sri Chinmoy: God cries if He sees we are no good; He wants to be proud of us.

Natalya: Why do we need God?

Sri Chinmoy: Because He needs us badly; He cannot live without us.

Jonathan: How did God get all His Powers?

Sri Chinmoy: God got all His Powers from His sweeter-than-the-sweetest dreams.

Josemiguel: How did God make the plants and flowers?

Sri Chinmoy: God created the plants from His Feet and the flowers from His Heart.

Jennifer: How does God see us?

Sri Chinmoy: He sees us exactly the way we want Him to see us.

Zina: Did God think of making schools?

Sri Chinmoy: God wanted to make only one school — and that school is our heart.

Mayra: How did God get His Name?

Sri Chinmoy: God got His Name from the smiles and tears of His children.

Keith: How does God help us?

Sri Chinmoy: God helps us by giving us a sincere mind and a pure heart.

Artem: How helpful is God?

Sri Chinmoy: The more sincere we are, the more helpful God is to us.

Omar: How does God make all the sick people better?

Sri Chinmoy: God makes all the sick people better by using the Beauty of His Eyes and the Fragrance of His Heart.

Nadja: Is God in Heaven?

Sri Chinmoy: When I am good, God is on earth. When I am bad, God is in Heaven.

Howard: How did God make men?

Sri Chinmoy: Once God was extremely hungry. Then, lo and behold, somebody came out from God's Body to feed Him. God was highly pleased and gave him the name “man”. Then God said, “There shall come a day when I shall come out of your body to feed you, and you will give Me the name 'God'.”

Shaunce: Does God have a mother?

Sri Chinmoy: Yes, He has a mother. His Mother has two names: Compassion and Forgiveness.

Vikram: How old is God?

Sri Chinmoy: If you are asking this question while you are in your heart, then God is exactly as old as you are. But if you are asking this question while you are in your mind, then God is infinitely older than your great, great, great grandparents.

Veanna: Where does God live?

Sri Chinmoy: God has three places to live. When He is hungry, He lives inside your heart. When He is thirsty, He lives inside your eyes. When He is not hungry or thirsty, He moves around inside your tiny body.

Colin: When did God make Adam and Eve?

Sri Chinmoy: Unfortunately, I was not born then.

Pradel: Why did He die for our sins?

Sri Chinmoy: He died to make us not just "sort of" good, but really good.

Jessica: Does God hate people who lie?

Sri Chinmoy: God does not hate people who lie, but He cries and cries in front of them very pitifully when they tell lies.

Josabad: Why did God make people?

Sri Chinmoy: God likes to play. Therefore, He created people to play with Him.

Blair: Does God have a house in Heaven?

Sri Chinmoy: God does not need a house of His own because He visits every day a number of houses owned by His dear children.
