Question: Is every person born with the same amount of good and evil in him?

Sri Chinmoy: No, each individual is born with divine qualities, and each individual starts to manifest divine qualities. Because of his receptivity to the higher light he has beauty, divinity and so forth. When we start, we start with different capacities. God gives the hand five fingers. But the little finger does not have the same strength as the thumb. If we separate our little finger or our thumb from our hand, the hand will not be so strong, but both the little finger and the thumb can claim the strength of the entire hand as their own. So there is equality on the strength of oneness. God has distributed capacity, but not to everyone to the same degree. God’s strength is inside the elephant and inside the ant, but not to the same degree. Without multiplicity we do not get joy.
