Sri Chinmoy presents Rafael Hernández-Colón (then Governor of Puerto Rico) with several gifts, including the straw hat, at a special function held in the Governor’s honour.Governor Hernández-Colón said to Sri Chinmoy, “In all my imperfections I can only say that to be beside you and to feel and contemplate your spirituality and your holiness is a great source of inspiration, of light and of guidance. I only wish that you could guide me and help me to grow in spirituality so that I may be of service to my people and mankind everywhere.”
Since then Sri Chinmoy and Hernández-Colón have met together several times, both in New York and Puerto Rico.
