Subhas derived tremendous strength and succour from Sarat's correspondence and physical presence. In a letter to his brother written in 1921, Subhas proclaimed:"The magnanimous spirit revealed in your letters has touched me profoundly. I know that that spirit is worthy of you and all that I shall say is that I am proud of you."
