Question: If I want to do japa, should I chant your name, or AUM or Supreme?
Sri Chinmoy: The best way to do japa is to chant the Supreme’s name. But if you do not get joy from chanting Supreme, then chant AUM: God the Creator, God the Preserver, God the Transformer. Either use this term or Supreme. The seers of the holy past chanted AUM. When you chant Supreme, it embodies everything. Sometimes the mind operates when you chant Supreme, but with AUM it is a different approach. Because Supreme is an English word, you may not get joy from it, whereas AUM is new to you. When we do something new, we get joy.
