Question: Have you ever lost confidence in yourself while trying to reach your ultimate goal of 7,000 plus pounds?

Sri Chinmoy: I never lost confidence. In my case, it is not mere confidence. It is the Grace of the Supreme that I invoke. If it is up to me, my mind will interfere and I will miserably fail. But I surrender my aspiration-capacity to the Will of the Supreme. Therefore, I do not need any confidence, either in my mind or in any part of my being.

Confidence most often plays its role either on the vital plane or on the mental plane. Aspiration plays its role on the psychic plane. The psychic plane has the capacity to identify itself with the Universal Consciousness which embodies infinite Power. Confidence spoke through Julius Caesar: “I came, I saw, I conquered.” But devoted and unconditional surrender to God’s Will operates in and through me.
